Empowering Youth with Migration Background

DUO for a JOB wants to address the persistent challenges faced by youth with a migration background, particularly NEETs, in accessing the job market through the provision of an intergenerational mentoring program in Europe.

Project definition


DUO for a JOB connects young job seekers with an immigration background (mentees) with experienced people aged 50 and over (mentors). Through individual mentoring, these mentors support young people in their socio-professional journey, helping them develop skills, expand their network and access employment opportunities.

🎯 The project aims to support 2,500 young people in several European countries by strengthening mentoring programs and by launching new branches in France, the Netherlands and Spain.

Impact & metrics

Success Rates: 70% of mentees find a job (50%) or start qualifying training/internships (20%) .

Comparative Advantage: Independent evaluations showed a 30% higher employment rate for immigrants with mentors compared to those without.

Reach: The project unabled DUO for a JOB to meet and inform more than 8200 young people and in the end support 2,500 mentees

Mentor Training: Over 900 new mentors were trained across the three operating countries : France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

New national mentoring coalition : Mentoring Belgium was created gathering 9 members from all regions with shared quality standards.
